Registering to Vote

Complete an application in person at your local clerk’s office during regular office hours; plus, the Clerk’s Department is always open the Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. before an election.

Register to vote during the 14 days prior to the election, including Election Day, by applying in person at the Clerk’s Office.

You can register to vote for federal, state and local elections here at the Richfield Township Clerk Department, by visiting any Secretary of State Branch office or by mail. You must be registered at least 30 days before an election. To register to vote you must be:

  • Register to vote 30 days of election
  • Not serving a sentence in jail or prison
  • A. U.S. Citizen
  • At least 18 years of age by Election Day. A resident of Michigan and the city or township where you are applying to register to vote.

Moving

Whenever you move to a new city or township, you must re-register to vote.

Voting by Absentee Ballot

Absentee voter ballots are available for all elections. They provide a convenient method for casting a ballot when you are unable to attend the polls on Election Day. For absentee ballot requirements and the application form, go to www.michigan.gov/vote and click on "Absentee Voting". The completed form can be mailed, faxed or email to clerk@richfieldtwp.org.

Voter Identification

Remember to bring an acceptable form of photo identification to the polls on Election Day. Visit www.michigan.gov/vote and click on the "voter ID" bar for the complete list of acceptable forms of I.D. and more information on this requirement.
